Runnin' Rebs Give Kruger Contract Extension

POSTED: 8:44 pm EDT August 8, 2008

(Sports Network) - UNLV signed men's basketball coach Lon Kruger to a one-year contract extension Friday.

The Nevada Board of Regents approved the extension during its meetings August 7-8 in Reno. Kruger is now under contract through the 2012-13 season.

"The extension is well-deserved and we're looking forward to continuing the success of Rebel basketball with Lon Kruger as our coach," said UNLV athletics director Mike Hamrick.

Kruger will enter his fifth season at UNLV in 2008-09. He has compiled a four- year mark of 91-42, including a record of 57-15 over the last two seasons and was named the Mountain West Conference's Coach of the Year this past season.

"(My wife) Barb and I love living in Las Vegas and appreciate the opportunity to work with the young men in our program," Kruger said.
