American Univ. Gives Head Men's Hoops Coach New Contract

POSTED: 6:54 pm EDT August 21, 2008

(Sports Network) - American University rewarded head men's basketball coach Jeff Jones with a new contract on Thursday.

Jones led the Eagles to a Patriot League title in 2007-08 along with a berth in the NCAA Tournament -- both firsts for the school as a member of Division I athletics. American eventually fell to second-seeded Tennessee in the first round.

"I am very proud to stand up here today as the head coach of American University's men's basketball team," Jones said. "I very much look forward to continuing to build a winning tradition here."
