Holly Woman Dies In Clare Crash
Others Involved Taken To Hospital For Examination

CLARE, Mich. -- Clare County police are investigating a head-on collision that took the life of 76-year-old Beverly Ellis, of Holly.Officers responded to a report of a personal injury traffic crash involving two vehicles on Fifth Street near George Street on the west end of Clare.Police found that a white 1993 Buick Roadmaster and a tan 1995 Buick Lesabre had been involved in a head-on collision.The investigation revealed that the white Buick had been traveling eastbound on Fifth Street and crossed left of center striking the tan Buick that was traveling westbound at the time of the crash.
The driver of the white Buick, a 77-year-old Donald Ellis, from Holly, was transported to Mid Michigan Regional Medical Center-Clare for examination.Ellis has since been released from the hospital after being treated for injuries.The driver of the tan Buick, a 59-year-old female from Farwell, was taken to the hospital for examination. She has been identified as Kathleen Russell, of Farwell.She was initially transported to Mid Michigan Regional Medical Center-Clare for treatment, but has since been taken to Hurley Medical Center in Flint for further treatment and is listed in serious, but stable condition.The front seat passenger of the tan Buick has been identified as Fred Russell, 83, of Farwell.He was initially flown to Covenant Hospital in Saginaw by Flight Care Medical Services and is listed in serious, but stable condition.The two rear passengers of the tan Buick have been identified as Madalin and Jadin Russell, both age 5, of Farwell.They were initially taken to Mid Michigan Regional Medical Center-Clare for treatment and have since been released.
