FLINT, Mich. -- Another piece of Flint’s downtown revitalization project is in place. On Wednesday, officials announced the addition of Blackstone's Pub & Grill, a restaurant set to begin construction downtown in November.Blackstone's Pub & Grill is a 6,600-square-foot American/Irish pub located at 531 S. Saginaw St. between the new Wade Trim Building and the Mott Foundation Building. The décor of the new eatery is described as "modern rustic with rich tones" and will feature a wood masonry bar, cobblestone and an exposed steel ceiling.
"This new restaurant not only continues to generate enthusiasm but it ultimately creates a place in the heart of the city where people can relax and enjoy good food and entertainment," said Tim Herman, CEO at the Genesee Regional Chamber of Commerce.Blackstone's Pub & Grill is no doubt paying homage to Flint's history by carrying on the name of the last business to occupy the building -- Blackstone's Clothier. The original sign is even being refurbished for authenticity.According to a news release, the restaurant owners are looking to fill between 40-60 new jobs.Construction is slated to be completed by March 2009.
