Best Restroom Voting Ends This Week

Flushing, Mich. Establishment In Running

Online voting for this year's coveted America's Best Restroom contest ends in six days, and five cities are in the running for the title.

This year's five finalists have established a new standard for restroom quality, with washrooms reflecting their proprietors' sense of taste, flare and humor, featuring some of the world's finest materials, customer comforts and a few surprises.

One Michigan city is in the running for the title. Flushing, Michigan's "Fandangles" is still in the running to be named the best restroom in America.

The public is invited to vote online through July 31 at bestrestroom.com.

The site takes visitors on a photographic tour of each restroom and allows them to choose their favorite. The winner will be announced in August, organizers said.

This year¹s finalists for America¹s Best Restroom are:
  • Catch 31, Virginia Beach, Vir. -- Stylish sinks, dark wood and mosaic tile.
  • Fandangles, Flushing, Mich. -- Adorned in chandeliers, local artwork and creature comforts.
  • Jungle Jim¹s, Fairfield, Ohio -- Chic jungle motif throughout expansive facility concealed by port-o-let doors.
  • Mix Lounge, Las Vegas -- Sitting atop the 64th floor of the Mandalay Bay Hotel & Casino, toilets face floor to ceiling windows with captivating views.
  • Proctor Marble Exhibit, Proctor, Vt. -- Shrouded in elegant, polished marble from local Vermont quarry.

Cintas created the Best Restroom award in 2002 to honor those businesses across America that combine function with exceptional style in their public restrooms.

Over the last five years, the contest has attracted tens of thousands of voters. The 2007 winner will receive a plaque of recognition and a coveted place on America¹s Best Restroom Hall of Fame section of the program's Web site.

Previous winners have included restrooms at Notre Dame University, The Grand Casino, Kohler Art Center, the Fort Smith, Ark. Airport, and in 2006, Wendell¹s Restaurant in Westerville, Ohio.
