BAY CITY, Mich. -- Two construction workers fell about two stories to the ground wile working on the Pier Marquette Train Depot restoration project Monday. The two men were installing new rain gutters about 25 feet up when the scaffolding and platform the men were using collapsed and fell to the ground.Usually the ground they hit would have been soft dirt, but it has been frozen, so the impact was as solid as hitting concrete. The accident happened around 10:15 a.m. "When we got here, it appeared they were working off a forklift with a scaffolding on it," said Bay City Detective Dave Barry Kenyon, "somehow it appears the scaffolding came disconnected to the forklift sending both gentlemen down 25 feet to the ground."
The workers were identified only as a 51-year-old Arizona man and 47-year-old Florida man.One was in critical condition and the other was in stable condition at Bay Regional Medical Center.
