FLINT, Mich. -- A Flint woman has received probation for throwing her roommate's dog off their second-floor balcony after the 9 1/2-pound Pomeranian nipped her 8-month-old daughter's cheek.Patricia Beardsley pleaded guilty earlier to conspiracy to commit animal cruelty in exchange for dismissal of animal cruelty charges.Reports indicate she already spent 40 days in jail.Flint District Judge William Crawford II sentenced the 34-year-old to 18 months' probation. He ordered her to get a high school equivalency degree and take anger management classes.Neighbors said Beardsley held the 10-month-old dog Sadie Mae by the neck before throwing it up into the air August 16 at the Maplewood Avenue residence.The dog underwent surgery for an injured rear hip joint and has since recovered from its injuries.
