The identity of a Burton man beaten to death in his own home has been released.

Charles Easter, 58, died at the hospital Thursday from multiple fractures to the head and chest.

Easter was dumped at the hospital after being assaulted Wednesday afternoon.

Mary Blackmore said she grew up with the man who was beaten at his Burton home at Barnes and Scottwood Avenue.

She said the 58-year-old left disabled by polio could not drive or work because of his limitations, but kept good spirits.

When TV5 arrived at the scene, remnants of the beating were still visible, as there was blood spattered on the door.

A 31-year-old Burton man, a suspect in the case, turned himself in to police Thursday.

The suspected assailant has yet to go before a judge, but is expected to be arraigned on Sunday.
