Unoccupied Car Strikes Midland Restaurant

Owner Of Vehicle Isn't Ticketed

Owners of local restaurant probably weren't counting on the drive-in business they got a few nights ago.

A driverless Chevrolet Aveo crashed into the front doors of the Ruby Tuesday restaurant in the Midland Mall on Friday night.

Officials reported nobody was hurt in the incident. Police said the subcompact car wasn't in gear and the parking brake wasn't engaged when its owner, 36-year-old Marsha Shattuck, of Sanford, used a remote starter and it rolled from its parking space.

It shattered the glass doors but, thanks to a set of inside doors, no debris got into the dining area and there was no structural damage.

Shattuck wasn't ticketed.
