An Iosco County man is facing charges after police said he planned on setting fire to a Hale business.

State police said officers caught the 47-year-old with a Molotov cocktail preparing to burn down the business on Friday.

Police said the man had a verbal altercation and made threats to the business owner.

The man left the business and made the gasoline-fueled bomb in the yard of his residence. Police said they were able to render the combustible device safe at the scene.

The man is lodged in the Iosco County Jail for possessing a device with explosive capability, with intent to terrorize.

The charge carries a four-year maximum penalty.
