Saginaw House Destroyed By Fire

Crews Battle Blaze For Hours

Some Saginaw emergency personal are still on the scene of what was a large house fire at 1017 Chestnut Street.

About 8:30 a.m., neighbors in the area said they heard a large explosion followed by thick black smoke.

TV5's Craig McMorris reported that four oxygen canisters exploded during the fire, one of them shooting out several hundred feet away from the house.

Firefighters said no one was seriously injured, however, one woman was transported to a local hospital as a precaution.

The city fire marshal said its fortunate the home had working smoke detectors.

The house is considered a complete loss but the homeowners do have insurance.

At last check, no word on what caused the fire.
