BAY CITY, Mich. -- A controversy that is brewing over the yearbook at John Glenn High School in Bay City has students and parents up in arms.Parents claim they shelled out money for a book that is riddled with errors, missing pictures and has no ads parents paid for to congratulate their child.TV5 heard from parents who said the new books are the result of a computer system crash which lost all yearbook data for 2007.Parents also report a first-year teacher, new at the school, was placed in charge of the project and did not back up any of the missing files.
Some of the major issues with the yearbook are misspelled words, missing senior pictures, lack of business ads, blank spaces where headings of pictures should be, as well as headings misidentifying students. On top of it, complete groups of extra curricular activities are missing, including band, choir, mock elections and homecoming court.Toping off the parental complaints are the excessive autograph pages and small-sized pictures throughout.Parents have been told by the principal at John Glenn High School that there are no plans to replace the yearbooks and that $25,000 has already been spent on them.A meeting is planned for May 15 to discuss options for 2007 graduates only.
