Deserted Vehicles Visible As Flint River Drops
More Than 12 Cars, SUVs No Longer Submerged

FLINT, Mich. -- Police and fire officials said more than a dozen submerged vehicles have popped up in the Flint River.The empty vehicles had started to become visible after water levels were lowered Wednesday for this weekend's annual river cleanup.Genesee County Sheriff Robert Pickell said that most of the vehicles likely were connected to theft, insurance fraud or other crimes.
Pickell said detectives will work to match vehicle identification numbers and other distinguishing characteristics to unsolved local crimes.
