BAY CITY, Mich. -- Domestic assault charges were brought against a 35-year-old Bay City man over the weekend.

The Midland Daily News reported the man was taken into custody after being treated for stab wounds early Saturday morning.

A 32-year-old woman told police the man assaulted her at a house in the 1300 block of Elm Street and that she stabbed him in self-defense.

The man was treated for two small stab wounds and then arrested on a domestic assault charge. Both wounds were superficial, police said.

The case is now being reviewed by the Bay County prosecutor’s office.
