A woman has been seriously burned and four other people are injured after an early-morning fire in Bay City.

The blaze started around 3 a.m. in the 200 block of North Monroe Street.

Firefighters said seven people, including three children, escaped the fire but a 44-year-old woman suffered second-degree burns to over 40 percent of her body. The out-of-town woman was transported to the burn unit at Hurley Medical Center.

Two others suffered from smoke inhalation.

Two firefighters suffered minor injures and were treated at the scene.

The home is considered a complete loss.
