Bay City Bicyclist Dies After Hitting Police Car

John Watson Was Removed From Life Support Thursday

The Bay City bicyclist who collided with a police cruiser has died.

John Watson, 26, was taken off life support Thursday at Hurley Medical Center.

The incident happened late Sunday, June 21. Officer Eric Williams crashed into Watson along Water and 19th streets when he was responding to a call on his police radio.

Watson was in critical condition following the accident and had suffered brain injuries from the impact.

Williams, a seven-year veteran of the Bay City Police Department, has been on paid administrative leave and was not injured in the crash.

Funeral arrangements for Watson have not been announced.
