Saginaw Township police are still trying to piece together a four-vehicle crash on Bay Road, between Shattuck and McCarty, which resulted with two of the vehicles overturning on Thursday.

TV5 has learned a 77-year-old Saginaw man is dead in what police originally described as a case of road rage. In a news release issued on Friday morning, police said there is no evidence to suggest that the accident was a result of road rage.

Authorities had shut down a nearly mile long stretch of the road from Shattuck to McCarty around 1:30 p.m. just south of Universal.

Police said a car collided with another vehicle further down on Bay Road and then sped off to avoid a police confrontation. As that driver cruised south on Bay Road at 75 miles per hour, the car hit another car and that impact put a burgundy car on its roof.

Lorena Canales, 37 suffered minor injures after her vehicle ended up on its side. She was taken to Covenant Medical Center.

Annabelle Garcia, 42, of Buena Vista Township, and her son, passenger Rafael Garcia, 21, were ejected from their vehicle as it rolled. Police said both sustained moderate injuries.

The 46-year-old driver of the fourth vehicle, Deborah Adams, was not injured.

Saginaw Township police are looking for any witnesses in this incident that may have seen anything out of the ordinary leading up to the crash.

Witnesses should call the police at 989-793-2310.
