SAGINAW, Mich. -- Saginaw police continue to investigate after a 61-year-old man was found dead inside his home on the city's west side Saturday afternoon.

Police were called to check on Joseph M. Ramirez after family members a family member reported he was unable to contact him.

Police said the death will be treated as a homicide unless new evidence indicates otherwise.

An autopsy indicated Ramirez may have been beaten to death.

“Who ever did it... just don’t have respect for life,” said neighbor Barbara Thomas. “I’m scared.”

Police said they have some people of interest but no suspects at this time.
