There has been a major break in the brutal killing of a 29-year-old mother of three that stunned a quiet Bay City neighborhood.

Holly Falasz was found dead in her home last month after neighbors called police when they found her 5-month-old baby still strapped in her car seat, sitting in front of the home.

County prosecutor Kurt Asbury said Falasz was beaten and stabbed when she was killed on July 25.

The man charged Friday, 32-year-old Antonio Knapp, faced a judge via video feed from Bay County Jail.

Police had their eyes on several suspects throughout their investigation but narrowed it down to Knapp.

A warrant was issued for Knapp’s arrest Friday afternoon while he was in the Bay County Jail for unpaid child support.

Asbury said Knapp and Falasz knew each other, but he would not elaborate on their relationship.

Judge Joe Sheeran approved a request to hold Knapp without bond, and if convicted, he could spend the rest of his life in prison.

Bay City police are still not talking about what it was that tipped them off to Knapp, and they said they are still gathering information surrounding the killing.

Knapp will be back in court Aug. 28. Falasz was a server at a local restaurant for many years.
