Police said a corrections officer has been arrested after allegedly buying marijuana from another officer undercover.

John Singer, a two-year employee of the Saginaw Correctional Facility in Freeland, was arrested Monday night in the Fashion Square Mall parking lot.

The Burton man had worked at the facility for two years until his arrest, and Tuesday morning he was charged with distribution of marijuana and maintaining a drug house.

Neighbors said they were shocked by the allegations. "We never knew what was going in the house, we always just thought that John was a good neighbor,” said Mary Lou Secord. “He always waved, the kids were always decent kids.”

Investigators said they believe Singer was attempting to bring the drugs into the prison, but was caught before he could.

At this time Singer is free on bond.
