The Clare County Sheriff’s Department arrested a man who they said left the scene of a fatal crash Wednesday night in Garfield Township.

Police said a 51-year-old Lake man was riding his bicycle southbound on Lake Station Avenue just after 8:30 p.m. when he was struck.

Witnesses told police they saw a large white Cadillac hit the bicyclist.

Sheriff's deputies found the suspected vehicle with damage to the passenger side windshield and front bumper parked at a home at the corner of Hemlock and Cherry Streets in Lake two hours later.

A 59-year-old man was questioned and was placed in custody in the Clare County Jail on unrelated charges out of Ionia County.

Police said the case will be turned over to the prosecutor for possible charges.
