BAY CITY, Mich. -- A Bay City man who depends on special transportation has been the victim of theft for the second time in two years.Donald Clough said he and his wife were at a fundraiser for Disability Services Resource Center at an Essexville grocery store when someone stole his special tricycle.Clough suffers from a physical disability, and as a result, can’t drive or operate a two-wheeled bicycle. The Bay City man chained his $450 tricycle to a cart corral and a couple of hours later, he noticed it was gone.Clough is fearful the trike was stolen for scrap purposes and he has a message for the person who stole it."There has to be another way to make money other than taking things from other people,” he said.Clough’s wife is also disabled and the theft caused a hardship for the couple in another way. She had to come home by herself on the Rail Trail using only her wheelchair. Two years ago someone stole a similar three-wheeler off of Clough’s porch. He cannot believe the same thing has happened again. Renter's insurance and his church will help him pay for a replacement trike. But Clough would like the tricycle back that was stolen as it had a special mat on the back that was made by his mother.Hampton Township and Bay City police are working together to find the stolen tricycle.
