Fire investigators in Flint are looking into what caused a deadly morning fire at a home on Jane Avenue.

Firefighters arrived at the home between Lewis and Olive avenues after neighbors called 911 shortly before 8 a.m. Wednesday. Fire crews told TV5 they found a man dead inside the house.

One neighbor said the man who lived there was partially blind and that he and another neighbor tried to help the man just before firefighters arrived.

“We went and banged on the doors and the windows,” said Dallas Freeman, the man’s neighbor. “And there was no response.”

Freeman said he has known the victim for years and that this is a terrible loss.

Meanwhile, authorities are still investigating what started the blaze.

WNEM.com and TV5 will bring you more information as it becomes available.
