SAGINAW TOWNSHIP, Mich. -- All one Mid-Michigan woman wanted to do was drop her children off at school. But she ended up catching two thieves in the act – rifling through her car.The woman, who does not want to be identified due to fear of retribution from the robbers, was dropping her kids off at Sherwood Elementary School, and when she returned, she found the men going through her vehicle. She said she surprised the men, and they left in another car.The woman said a tire air compressor was missing from the center console of the car, and it is unknown if any other items were taken. She then went into the school and told officials what happened. The school is connected to the Mackinaw Academy, which is an alternative high school.Saginaw Township police are investigating whether the incident is connected to a student from that school. After the incident, the woman pulled her children from the school for the day.She also warns parents who visit the school to make sure they roll up their windows and lock their car doors.TV5 contacted Saginaw Township school officials, and they said the description of the car in which the suspects fled does not match any owned by Mackinaw Academy students or staff. That academy starts more than an hour later than the elementary, said school officials.Saginaw Township police continue to investigate.
