ARENAC COUNTY, Mich. -- An Arenac County farmer has been honored for giving cows a lift.

Dairy producer, Victor Daniels, Jr., of Sterling, was awarded the Michigan Farm Bureau Idea Exchange Award for his “Hip Lift Swivel.”

Daniels’ device was created to assist downed cows in a timely and humane fashion. When a cow slips and falls on wet pavement the machine gently lifts the animal back to its feet.

Reports indicate Daniels has used the device on five cows over the last two years.

Daniels was given the award at a ceremony this week in Grand Rapids.
