FLINT, Mich. -- More than a week after a 20-year-old Flint mother was critically injured in a drive-by shooting, police have charged four suspects with five counts of assault with intent to murder.The victim, Shanicka Martin, was shot in the neck on Dec. 27 while in her two children’s bedroom.DeAndre Upchurch, a standout on the Flint Northwestern High School boys basketball team, was charged along with three others in connection to the West Piper Avenue shooting.Police said the shooting stemmed from an argument over $30.Upchurch, 17, is the starting guard for the Wildcats and received honorable mention all-state last season.Some of his teammates told TV5 Upchurch is not a killer and they’ll fully support him if needed.“We are going to hold it in for each other and for him,” said one teammate. “He’s like a brother. When he’s on the court he’s like family.”Martin has been released from the hospital and is expected to recover completely. No one else was injured in the shooting.Police said a fifth suspect, 19-year-old Delonte Darrough is still at large.
