FLINT, Mich. -- Since its debut in 2007, the Fox game show "Are You Smarter Than a 5th Grader?" has had its share of laughs as adults try to answer grade-school questions for big money.

In Genesee County, The Flint Children's Museum and Fox 66 hope to turn the same quiz and question game show into money for local charities.

The event will take place at 7 p.m. Friday on Kettering University's McKinnon Theater at 1700 W. University Ave.

The charity version of the game show will be hosted by TV5’s Erica Donerson and will feature six local celebrity contestants.

The contestants can receive help in the form of three lifelines from the student gallery made up of students from four local schools: Durant-Tuuri-Mott, Flushing Central Elementary, International Academy of Flint and St. John Vianney Catholic School.

Tickets are $5 each and a dessert buffet will be provided following the charity event.
