DENTON TOWNSHIP, Mich. -- Police and EMS personnel responded last week to a report of a 1-year-old boy suffering from an allergic reaction.Upon arrival at the Denton Township apartment complex in Roscommon County, crews began treating the boy and quickly alerted deputies that the boy appeared to have severe burns on various parts of his body, particularly his upper torso.Deputies and EMS were unable to determine what had caused the burns, but investigators later learned the boy’s burns were the result of a bath and that the incident had happened two hours before the boy’s male caregiver alerted EMS.The child was taken to West Branch Regional Medical Center and was later flown to Hurley Medical in Flint for further treatment. The burns were severe enough that the child died of the injuries Friday, April 10, two days later. The male caregiver was arrested on an unrelated charge, and is awaiting arraignment at the Roscommon County Jail. The mother of the child was not home during the incident, but had in fact left the child in the care of the man.The investigation continues and all reports will be forwarded to the Roscommon County prosecutor for any charges that may result in the case.
