GRATIOT COUNTY, Mich. -- Cartridges Are Us recently announced that it is now Gratiot County’s second-largest private employer, and the city of Ithaca’s largest employer.The company recently hired 150 additional employees at its Union Street location, bringing its total local employment to 229.Six months ago, Cartridges Are Us left its Mexicali, Mexico, plant because of harsh climate conditions that were prematurely drying out ink cartridges.The company chose Gratiot County over Illinois to stay and expand.Greater Gratiot Development, Inc., along with the Michigan Economic Development Corporation and the city of Ithaca, put together an incentive package that helped the company chose to stay and expand its business in Michigan.Cartridges Are Us deals with local dealers and retailers nationwide and globally to sell inkjet cartridges to businesses and school districts.
