MONTROSE TOWNSHIP, Mich. -- An unlicensed 16-year-old boy stole his mother's pickup truck and led officers on a chase that reached speeds well over 100 mph, according to police.Montrose Township police said they attempted to pull the teen over near Vienna and Duffield roads around 4 a.m. after clocking his vehicle at 85 mph in a 55 mph zone.The driver reached southbound Interstate 75 and hit speeds up to 115 mph.Police said the chase ended when the truck’s two back tires blew out after officers were forced to use stop sticks.While riding on bare rear rims, the pickup flipped onto its roof.Officers reported the boy's seat belt most likely saved his life as no air bags deployed.Police told TV5 they suspect the driver had consumed alcohol and the incident is still under investigation.
