IOSCO COUNTY, Mich. -- Authorities said a body found Thursday along the shores of Lake Huron in East Tawas is that of an elderly woman who disappeared Monday.Emma Rush Nichols, 81, was found lying in a bed of weeds by a search volunteer around 4 p.m.“It was a fairly disturbing site and very sad,” said Julius Mulluer, a search volunteer who located her body. “My second thought was -- at least we found her and her family knows where she’s at now.”Nichols’ family reported her missing after they found a note inside her home, saying she was going for a walk at the dock in Tawas City.Relatives told TV5 Nichols suffered from dementia, but the Tawas Police Department said the disease was never officially diagnosed.Police said there are no signs of foul play.An official cause of death has not been determined.
