Starting Wednesday, residents will have a new option for health care services in Mid-Michigan.

A ribbon-cutting ceremony was held Monday morning at Covenant’s new Saginaw Valley Health Care Clinic at Saginaw Valley State University.

The state-of-the-art facility will be open to the community and the university’s nearly 10,000 students.

Students TV5 spoke with said they are happy to see the clinic open as they now do not need to go out of town to get medical treatment.

The clinic cost more than $2.5 million to build and is a partnership between Covenant and SVSU.

Students can charge their visit to their student account, pay when they are treated or submit their bill to a health insurance company.

The facility is expected to be open seven days a week and its first operational day is July 1.
