Friends and family will say their final goodbyes to a Mid-Michigan soldier who was killed during his fourth tour of duty in Iraq.

Gov. Jennifer Granholm has ordered flags to be flown at half-staff for Sgt. Timothy David of Beaverton.

He died June 28 in Baghdad of wounds suffered when an improvised device exploded near his vehicle in Sadr City.

David served two tours of duty in Afghanistan and four in Iraq.

“Tim always told us 'don't worry about nothing until someone comes to the door' and, Jesus Christ, it happened," said David's father Michael. “He was a good guy, and I just hope everybody can give him a good send-off, he deserves that."

The 28-year-old's body was flown Monday into MBS International Airport.

David's funeral is this afternoon at Beaverton High School, about 80 miles north of Lansing.

Burial follows at St. Andrew Cemetery & Mausoleum in Saginaw.
