BAY CITY, Mich. -- A Mid-Michigan business is ready to flip the switch and go green.Bay Carbon Inc., at 800 Marquette St., has placed the finishing touches on two, 40-foot tall, 5-kilowatt wind turbines on the Saginaw River. These wind turbines, which are considerably smaller than traditional wind turbines, will supply power directly to Bay Carbon's manufacturing facilities. The turbines, installed by Affordable Green Energy in Essexville, had been idled by city officials after their installation last month. Both sides said the process was delayed because it was the first project launched since the Bay City Commission adopted amendments to its zoning ordinance to accommodate wind turbines.Bay Carbon business owners, along with local government leaders, will have a ceremonially “flipping of the switch” to officially begin its generating of electrical energy.Stay tuned to TV5 for a live report at noon.
