Man Arrested After Driving Vehicle Into Tawas Bay
Police Say Speeding, Alcohol Led To Crash

IOSCO COUNTY, Mich. -- A 28-year-old Alger man who crashed his vehicle into the Tawas Bay Tuesday night had to be rescued from his partially submerged vehicle by two witnesses.Michigan State Police from the East Tawas Post said the man was speeding along eastbound M-55 when his vehicle left the roadway, crossed over US-23 and rolled into the bay.Two people who seen the crash helped pull the trapped driver from vehicle just before police and rescue crews arrived.Troopers told WNEM TV5 the man was taken to St. Joseph’s Hospital in Tawas, where he was treated for minor injuries.Police said the man is facing charges of driving while intoxicated, reckless driving and driving on a suspended license.He’s expected to undergo a psychiatric evaluation at the Iosco County Jail, according to police.
