Truck Driver In Coma After Being Struck By Train
Man's Name Not Released As Authorities Work To Notify Family Members

TUSCOLA COUNTY, Mich. -- A Mayville man has been hospitalized after the truck he was driving was struck by a train Tuesday morning.Mayville Police Chief Jim Freeman said the man was traveling southbound on Lobdell Road, south of M-24, when the truck stopped at a set of railroad tracks.Witnesses, including the train conductor and engineer, said they heard the train whistle and saw the truck stop.They also said the driver bent over to retrieve something off the floor of the truck.Authorities said it was at that time that the truck rolled onto the tracks.The man, whom police will only identify as a 38-year-old Mayville man, is currently in a coma. He was taken by ambulance to Caro Community Hospital and then airlifted to Covenant in Saginaw.Police are working to inform family of the man’s conduction before releasing his name.
