Port Hope-area neighbors are hoping a $2,000 cash reward will help nab a burglar.

The group collected the money in an effort to stop a string of break-ins near Stafford Road in Rubicon Township.

Huron County Sheriff Kelly J. Hanson said at least three break-ins between Oct. 1 and 11 resulted in more than $500 worth of property being stolen and more than $1,000 of damage caused.

The group of concerned residents collected the cash reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person or person responsible for the breaking and entering.

Hanson said anyone with information regarding the break-ins can call an anonymous tip line at 989-269-2861.
