Some Mid-Michigan residents belonging to the Frankenmuth Credit Union have been targeted in a text message scam.

Company officials said the fraudulent cellular phone text message asks the customer to call an 866 phone number.

Those who call are instructed to enter their card number, PIN and expiration date information.

In a statement on its Web site, it warns customers to "use caution because Frankenmuth Credit Union does not generate text messages of this nature."
