Thousands of people are lining up across the United States and in Mid-Michigan for a chance at the H1N1 vaccine.

People descended to the nasal spray vaccine clinic in Genesee County Tuesday night at the health department’s Burton site.

The county’s first public H1N1 clinic lasts until 7 p.m., with another clinic scheduled for Thursday.

The clinic will offer the nasal spray vaccine only. It is free and available on a walk-in basis.

The first will be from 1 to 4 p.m. at the health department. The second will be from 9 a.m. to noon, Saturday at the Bay County Community Center.

Neither Genesee nor Bay County have the H1N1 vaccination needle-form available for the public yet.

Vaccinations are also currently under way -- or are planned -- in Midland, Tuscola, Huron and Shiawassee counties.

Saginaw County officials began administrating H1N1 vaccines on health care workers with direct patient care Monday. No word on when they’ll make them available to the public.
