SAGINAW, Mich. -- The Aleda E. Lutz VA Medical Center in Saginaw has added temporary restrictions to its visitor policy to reduce the spread of the H1N1 flu virus.Officials said they will restrict visitors under the age of 18 from visiting patients or attending outpatient appointments with veterans or visitors to the medical center or Community Based Outpatient Clinics in Alpena, Clare, Gaylord, Oscoda, and Traverse City. The restrictions are in place to protect patients, volunteers and staff from being exposed to any viral infections that are being seen in this age group, according to the medical center. Many Mid-Michigan hospitals and medical centers have similar polices already in place.A senior adviser to President Barack Obama said the government will catch up to the demand for swine flu vaccine within a week.Obama adviser David Axelrod said the manufacturers of the vaccine were wrong when they advised the administration earlier this year that they would have 40 million doses ready near the end of October.Instead, only 28 million doses of vaccine were available.
