A Genesee County paramedic is accused of stealing pain medication and replacing it with a saline solution.

Michael Rose is facing 14 counts in connection with a six-month-long investigation against him.

Prosecutors said while on the job, Rose would put saline in vials that were supposed to contain morphine and fentanyl, thereby keeping the drugs for himself.

“Had the sheriff’s department not investigated this case and not brought me the evidence, somebody -- I assure you -- would have died,” said Genesee County Prosecutor David Leyton.

Rose was a Flint firefighter before becoming a paramedic and was fired for stealing a computer at a scene.
