Saginaw, Texas Town Compete For Solar Plant

SAGINAW, Mich. -- A $177 million solar modular plant and 500 new jobs could be on the way to Saginaw.But the city will need to compete against a Texas community first.The two cities are in talks with Globalwatt, a California-based solar industry company.The Saginaw City Council is considering a Brownfield redevelopment plan that would earn the company $10 million in state tax credits.Globalwatt is expected to make a decision by the end of December.The Texas town being considered has not been named.Six months ago, Globalwatt entered a research and development partnership with TAMUCC at Corpus Christi, Texas.
