Downtown Flint Readies For Holiday Festivities

GENESEE COUNTY, Mich. -- The city of Flint and the Flint Downtown Development Authority are expecting a large turnout for the annual Flint Holiday Festival Tuesday.The themed “Unleash the Magic” begins at 5:30 p.m. at City Hall with the lighting of the Christmas Trees and continues through downtown to the flat surface parking lot on Kearsley and Saginaw streets.Organizers said there will be fun for the whole family.Some items on tap include: horse-drawn carriage rides, ice carvings, marching bands, live choirs and a parade led by Mayor Dayne Walling.Santa Claus is also expected to make an appearance on an antique fire truck during the evening.The event is free and co-sponsored by Genesee Regional Chamber of Commerce, Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan, Tim Horton's Gazall Lewis & Associates Architects Inc., and HealthPlus of Michigan.Visit WNEM.com Tuesday beginning at 5:30 p.m. for a live Webcast of the entire event.
