Meijer grocery stores are offering a one-day H1N1 flu vaccine at its Saginaw-area stores.

Meijer pharmacies will be administering the dose at the Tittabawassee Road Dec. 1 and at the Gratiot Road store on Wednesday, Dec. 2.

The clinics will run from 9 a.m. until 7 p.m.

The H1N1 vaccine has become available to Meijer through a partnership with Saginaw County.

Administration fee will be $15 per shot. Meijer said at this time the vaccine is only available to a limited population.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices recommends that H1N1 vaccination efforts focus on five key populations.

If you are not in one of the five key populations below, Meijer’s said the H1N1 vaccine cannot be administered to you at this time.

As additional vaccine becomes available, the CDC is expected to allow vaccination of all individuals.
  • Pregnant women -- at Meijer, a prescription from your personal physician is required.
  • People who live with or care for children younger than 6 months of age.
  • Health care and emergency medical services personnel.
  • Persons between the ages of 6 months through 24 years of age (must be 14 years or older to receive your shot at Meijer).
  • Persons between the ages 25 through 64 years who are at higher risk for H1N1 because of chronic health disorders or compromised immune systems.
