CLARE, Mich. -- Fire officials said winter weather fueled a business fire in Clare.

The blaze broke out Wednesday afternoon at Rodnick Chiropractic Office on Mission Road.

Firefighters from four departments were at the scene for hours.

Most of their efforts were focused on keeping the flames from spreading because of strong winds.

“We were up against Mother Nature,” said Clare Fire Chief Jim Chapman. “Obviously with the extent of the fire, we didn’t do too well. But we’ve got it knocked down at this point and we’re doing mop up right now.”

The fire chief said the building is a total loss. There was no word on any injuries related to the fire.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
