GENESEE COUNTY, Mich. -- The Genesee County prosecutor’s office said an elderly woman was taken advantage of and may have been drugged during the ordeal.Police investigators said Dorothy Mulkey, 73, was scammed out of more than $2 million by a Genesee County couple.Right now one suspect, Andrea Neil, has been arrested on charges of embezzlement and obtaining money under false pretenses.The couple allegedly planned to use the money to buy property in San Diego, Calif.“This is a prominent physician on the staff of the U of M Hospital,” said Genesee County prosecutor David Leyton. “[A] World renowned rheumatologist and she’s a victim.”Police also told WNEM TV5 the woman may have been drugged so the suspects could gain her consent to withdraw the funds.Investigators are waiting for toxicology results to confirm their theory.A second suspect in the investigation has not been arrested.
