GLADWIN, Mich. -- Michigan State police troopers were called to a Gladwin residence Saturday after receiving a call that someone had been wounded by an explosion.Troopers arrived at a residence on North Bard Road in Sage Township to find two teenage boys had been seriously injured while trying to build a pipe bomb. Both boys, ages 13 and 14, were transported to Mid-Michigan Medical Center-Gladwin for treatment and both were later transferred to other facilities for more advanced care.Troopers said their initial investigation showed the boys learned how to make a pipe bomb by watching a video on the Internet and were attempting to construct their own to detonate in a nearby cattle pasture.Authorities said while preparing the bomb, it detonated prematurely.Troopers said the incident appeared isolated and the teens had no intent to use the bomb in any manner beyond blowing it up in the pasture. No further evidence of explosive devices was found. The conditions of the teens are currently unknown, and police have not released their names.
