A lot of people refer to their doctor as “doc”. Why don’t they refer to their dentist as “den”?

This is the sort of stuff that keeps me up and night. Peace!

I’m in the process of setting up an aquarium. I’ve always wanted to have one, but never took the time to get into it. I didn’t want to sink a ton of money into it, (in case I really don’t care for it) so I bought a used tank. (Thanks craigslist.org!)

I’ve got the whole thing up and running without fish right now. I’m going to try and find some purple and yellow fish and name them Bud and Fran after the legendary Vikings players.

I’ve been a bad blogger. I’ll try to do better.

Well, it’s nearly April and we still have a few snowflakes in the forecast. Of course, this really shouldn’t be all that shocking. Don’t worry, you’ll be complaining about being too hot soon enough. (I’m a cynic at heart.)

“How I Spent My Christmas Vacation” or “Santa Brought My Family the Stomach Flu” I certainly hope you had a more enjoyable Christmas week that I did.

A friend of my wife’s came to visit the Friday before Christmas and infected us. (She didn’t know she was a disease carrier, so I can’t blame her. Much.)

Kid number 1 and I got it on Sunday and were out of commission for two days.

Kids number 2 and 3 got it on Christmas Eve. Technically they started puking on Christmas Day between 1am-3am. And my lovely wife’s own ordeal started on Friday.

It’s weird to say this….but I’m happy being back at work.

Man, the economy is getting rather frightening.

It was scary before, but now….sheesh. The upcoming presidential election is SO important. Please take the time to study the issues and really THINK about them. Don’t trivialize your choice by voting for someone without knowing what they stand for. The way the country is going right now, it’s too important. Study, think, then VOTE!

Although I may have hinted at it, I will NOT be writing new Vikings quarterback, Gus Frerotte in for president.

Thankfully, the NFL season starts up this week.

A lot of the “experts” are predicting my Vikings to be playoff-caliber team this year. That, of course, makes me very, very nervous. I’ve already cleared my schedule for every game and will be watching thanks to my NFL Sunday Ticket.

*hugs his satellite dish*

I’m having a hard time wrapping my mind around the fact that Brett Favre was offered 20 million dollars by the Green Bay Packers (ewwwww) to NOT play football.

I really need to figure out how to have someone pay me to NOT forecast. Good grief!

Darrin Bradley’s Blogger-iffic Blog for July 15, 2008

It looks like we’re heading to a relatively warm and muggy few days. If you need me, I’ll be inside enjoying air-conditioning.

NFL training camps will be cranking up in the next week or so. Ahhh….bliss.

The goatee is gone.

However, all is not lost. I did manage to save in a Ziploc bag in case I get a chance to try it again.

A great stretch of weather is on the way, just in time for the 4th of July weekend. Enjoy!

Darrin Bradley’s Blogger-iffic Blog for June 23, 2008

I’m back! You’ve been warned!

I had a terrific two weeks in the Promised Land (Minnesota). Every time I go on vacation, I grow a goatee. And every time I get back from vacation, I stop in to see the general manager and check and see if he’ll let me keep it.

I argue that if Mr. Merrill can wear that toupee of his (it’s OBVIOUSLY not his real hair….I mean, come on), I should be able to have a goatee. He usually just chuckles and tells me to shave it off before I hit the air. I’ve been doing this for YEARS.

Well, he finally caved. (Persistence pays off!) He allowed me to keep it last night on the air. Don’t you just LOVE happy endings?

We are now entered the WORST part of the football year. *sighs*

The free-agency rush is complete. The draft is over. Training camp is months away. Thank goodness for profootballtalk.com.

It’s keeping me sane….barely.

Our next Weather Roadshow is this coming Saturday, May 10th at the Delta College Planetarium in Bay City.

The price is very reasonable, too. It's free!

It starts at 11am and no tickets are required, but seating is limited. I hope to see you there! Remember….no heckling!

Also, I saw the Iron Man movie this weekend. ‘Twas awesome!

Geek nirvana! *swoons*

Good grief. Gas prices are up to nearly $3.50. Pretty soon, lending institutions will be having you list your full gas tank as an asset.

Why are we still using the internal combustion engine in 2008? *sighs*

Darrin’s Blogger-iffic Blog April 1, 2008

Well, we’re really running out of time for another snow storm. We typically don’t get a ton of now in April, but that doesn’t mean that it can’t happen.

There was a nice little storm back on April 2-3, in 1975 that dumped about 14 and a half inches of snow on Saginaw.

So, keep your fingers crossed. You know I will!

DB

Darrin’s Blogger-iffic Blog March 4, 2008

We’ll be dodging a major bullet tonight.

A significant snowstorm will be passing just off to our south. Folks in southern Genesee county, Lapeer county and Sanilac county may still see a few inches of snow. The heavier snow will be near Detroit, where they make rack up over 6”.

Be careful if you are traveling southward!

Our February thaw over the weekend was a real mess, wasn’t it?

I know a lot of you enjoy having a day or three (or ten) in the wintertime when the temperature breaks into the low 40s. I, however, can do without the freezing rain/slop. Anyhoo, we’re back with low temperatures in the single digits.

Darrin’s Blogger-iffic Blog February 13, 2008

Mid-Michigan is starting to look a bit more like my homeland.

I actually have a genuine snow drift in my back yard. *looks amazed* We even have MORE snow in the upcoming forecast as another weak storm is bearing down on YOUR backyard.

Isn’t wintertime great?

Darrin’s Blogger-iffic Blog January 30, 2008

Well, I’m back from a much-deserved two-week vacation.

The family and I went back to the Promised Land. It was VERY cold and I loved it!

The temperature didn’t break zero degrees on a couple of the days we were home.

Ahhh…bliss!

Winter makes a triumphant return as we close out the week. The warm temperatures have been pretty tough on me.

I had to buy new pillowcases because my old ones were too tear-stained. The hurt is gone now that it’s FINALLY getting colder. And all is right with my weather world.

Huzzah!

DB

Darrin’s Blogger-iffic Blog January 4, 2008

We FINALLY have a nice snowpack here in mid-Michigan. But alas, it won’t be here for long.

A MAJOR warm-up slides in this weekend and early next week. The good things never last, do they? *sobs*

I hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving.

My deepest sympathies to those that ventured out to the malls on the day after….yikes. You are much braver than I.

I never go “shopping”. I run to the store to pick something up.

AAAAHHHH! It’s Tuesday the 13th! Run!

Well, the Vikings are a terrible team. Scratch that. They are a disgustingly terrible team. Head Coach (using the term “coach” very loosely) continues to be a rube of the highest order. He really needs to go.

I was looking at the longer range models and there appears to be a nice little cool down around Thanksgiving…stay tuned!

Darrin’s Blogger-iffic Blog October 30, 2007

Well, it’s official. My Minnesota Vikings stink.

It’s just like last year, which isn’t a good thing at all. *grumble, grumble*

I’m actually starting to look forward to next year’s draft. I’m certain we’ll have a pretty high pick. I’m not giving up, mind you. I’m still planning on wasting 3 hours every week to watch them.

Darrin’s Blogger-iffic Blog October 8, 2007

Whew!

The heat and humidity are on the way out. It was a rather tough weekend with record highs and dew points in the mid-60s.

To make matters worse, the Vikings were on their “bye” week. I spent most of Sunday just moping around the house. Oddly enough, that’s what I’ve been doing after the Vikings actually PLAY. *sighs*

I hope everyone had a great holiday weekend.

We’re stuck with the summer-ish heat and humidity for a few more days. Yuck. No matter, though. The NFL 2007 season starts on Thursday.

I finally roped Mr. Merrill into joining our Fantasy Football league. I told him that we have a “pirate-themed” party for our draft, and he should be sure to dress up.

Alas, he called my bluff.

As we are finishing up the month of July, the dog-days are settling in. Bleh. The heat and humidity will be lingering for several days.

Have you hugged your air conditioner today? (By the way, January doesn’t seem quite so bad now, does it?)

DB

Darrin’s Blogger-iffic Blog July 17, 2007

We are rapidly approached the warmest day of the year….statistically speaking, that is. At MBS, the average high on July 19 is 83 degrees, which is the warmest of the entire year.

After that, the average high stays steady at 82 degrees until mid-August when the downward slide accelerates. January will be here before you know it! WOOT!

Darrin’s Blogger-iffic Blog July 10, 2007

Ahhhhh. After several painfully muggy days, relief is here! Dew points are dropping nicely behind that strong cold front and all is right with the mid-Michigan weather world (for the moment).

It will be nice to give my air conditioner a break.

Well, I’m back from my Promised Land vacation. I was able to spend some time in one of my favorite places in the world…..the Boundary Waters Canoe Area. If rustic camping and canoeing is your thing, you owe it to yourself to check it out.

I spent some quality time with friends and family and greatly enjoyed listening to the greatest rock radio station is the world, WHMH Rockin’ 101. Country music fans may want to avoid it, however...Rockin’ 101

We're still about two months away from the start of most NFL training camps, and I'm starting to get a bit edgy. I've been devouring just about ANY NFL tidbit of information I can find on that "series of tubes" they have here at the station. Senator Ted Stevens makes me laugh.
