St. Mary’s of Michigan Foundation is pleased to announce that Suhasini Gudipati, M.D., has been named the 2007 recipient of the Spirit of St. Vincent Award. Gudipati was honored at the St. Mary’s of Michigan Foundation 13th Annual Cornette Ball scheduled on November 17.

The Spirit of St. Vincent is presented annually by St. Mary’s of Michigan Foundation to at least one highly respected physician who has rendered long and noteworthy service to the Saginaw community and surrounding counties.

The Cornette Ball is a major fund raising event to support the healing mission of the Daughters of Charity, sponsors of Saint Mary’s since 1874. The black tie affair has been planned to fittingly launch the holiday season in Saginaw and northeastern Michigan. The name for the Ball (Cornette) derives from the soaring, white starched hat, originally worn by sixteenth century French peasant girls, that was for centuries a distinguishing part of the habit worn by the Daughters of Charity. For St. Mary’s of Michigan, the cornette symbolizes its continuing commitment to compassionate care of the sick and the poor.

Proceeds from the 2007 Cornette Ball will help construct a new Emergency Department at St. Mary’s of Michigan.
