This hometown Journalist is glad to get back to her roots.
After watching the nightly news for years as a child, Aisha often wondered how do those people on television know everything?
That curiosity turned into action leading her family to give her the nickname Rona Barrett, after the first Hollywood Entertainment Reporter.
Early on Aisha knew anything that had to do with talking and asking questions would be the perfect fit. So the Flint native headed to Michigan State University to earn a Bachelor's degree in Broadcast Journalism.
After graduating from Michigan State, the proud Spartan headed to the big city of Atlanta, GA where she worked as an Assignment Editor. After following the big stories of the day for other reporters Aisha knew it was her turn to get in front of the camera.
Aisha landed her first on-air job at WCTI-12 in New Bern, North Carolina. After a year's time she worked her way up from one-man-band weekend reporter to weekend evening anchor.
Now the morning anchor is in the early club getting Mid Michigan viewers ready to start their day at 5 a.m. on TV5 Wake Up. Her day is action packed hosting Better Mid Michigan and the noon news.
The most rewarding part of her job is getting out in the community and mentoring local youth.
Aisha is a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. Big Brothers Big Sisters of Greater Flint and the National Association of Black Journalists.
Aisha is excited to get out and meet new people as well as running into a few familiar faces. With her outgoing personality, Aisha has never met a stranger.
